NbS Walk Tour | Košice

24. 6. 26 16:00

The primary objective of this tour was to introduce local, small-scale rainwater management and urban greenery adaptation measures. The route was designed to showcase a diverse sequence of 10 distinct practical examples:
1. Rain Garden at Kukučínova Street – Practical demonstration of roadside rainwater retention.
2. Rain Garden at the Geriatric Institute – Example of integrating NbS within institutional healthcare premises.
3. Bio-retention beds at the Komenského transit stop, Cambridge area, and Tolstého Street.
4. Guerilla Gardening initiatives on Tolstého Street, demonstrating civic involvement in urban space revitalization.
5. Green beds and willow weaving structures at the Park Obrancov Mieru, focusing on natural shading and biodiversity support.

Expert technical commentary accompanied each stop, explaining the hydrological and microclimatic functions of the measures. The walking tour was successfully concluded at 18:00 at the Community Garden "Na Suti", where an open discussion took place, allowing participants to share insights on how to replicate these measures in their own residential environments.

The first educational activity was executed as a guided walking tour focused on urban nature-based solutions (NbS). The event commenced at 16:00 in front of the Secondary Vocational School (SOŠ) on Kukučínova Street 23, serving as the initial assembly point for 15 registered participants.
